Ok, scoot is an 07 LT, pretty much Factory other than being double darksided and exhaust was ridden out by p.o. I've been kicking around doing something about the gears on it this coming winter. Question is do I go with euro, reverse th NA gears, or a third option I saw a bit ago is to simply install a scootworks overdrive rear pulley. It's -2 teeth than stock (70 vs.72). Any thoghts are appreciated and here's a pic of the pulley, unpolished or assembled. Thanks !

man. i really like that seat. you got any info on what part it is? and by double dark are you running a CT front? that looks too blocky to be a rear MC tire.

on the topic tho. i am in the same boat and im kind of leaning tword doing the pulley swap. it seems like less can go wrong and a lot less work . the thing i wonder about is the stock belt matching up and if it effects the ware of it.

Ram, the seat it a corbin dual touring. As for the double dark I'm running a general g-max as-03 (205/55-16)on the rear, and a shinko 230 tour master rear tire in 150/80-16 up front but it is turned backwards to correct for the rain grooves and belt orientation. Next go around on the rear I will likely go a bit taller to try to help with speedo error. Maybe a 215/60 or 65. Well see, I REALLY like this general. Truthfully can't tell it not a bike tire. As for the pulleys the easiest thing appears to be the 70 tooth rear from scootworks. Best guess I can find shows about a 3 mph gain across all rpms, and it would be so much simpler to pull the rear wheel and install it in place of the stocked. Scootworks claims stock belt will work fine. I still need more info before deciding though, because will 3mph be worth it for me?The pic of my scoot is about a week prior to darkside, but here's a couple of the rear to get you going!

yeah i run a alitimax 205/60 on my rear had one on it for the last 4 years. but been deciding what to do with the front. i think i might look into swapping to that corbin seat over my mustang seat i have currently there is just no padding in that thing and the rod from the removable back rest always digs into my tail bone.

but i understand what you mean whether or not it will be work the swap for the pulley. i know every one says the "gains" are great but id really like to see a few numbers behind it. like shift points for people and top end speeds after a swap to get a better idea i never have found a proper write up over this subject. ill be following this for a while to also see if any answers get throw out here.

front pulley is bigger and back pulley is smaller. I heard some guys here say the scootworks pulley made a lot of noise.

Just for info guys, spoke with a guy from scootworks a bit ago and they DO in fact still make the rear pulley but are currently out of stock until the next run. Next question is when's the next run?

Been waiting for 8 months now since I ordered that 70 tooth rear pulley, I am thinking Scootworks isn't going to make it. Living with Euro gears for now. Have a 33 tooth front pulley, but my 215/60/16 GYTT rubs the splash guard, back to original front pulley.

Our bikes run the same belts as HD, just a bit wider, 1/16" wider than an aftermarket HD Gates belt (got 40,000 miles on one, just over 200.00 from J&P). So it would seem a pretty easy job for someone to machine HD aftermarket pulleys to bolt up to our hub thingie. There has to be a million people making HD pulleys, and the belts come in every imaginable tooth count. I have an extra hub thingie I might donate if someone finds a manufacturer willing to do it.

that 1/16 is enough to make it rub.. I know, I tried when I went with my aftermarket pulley. I had to replace the belt.

I have the 4X4 Tuff rear pulley. They are supposedly in stock now. I love mine. Works great, and while the stock pulley looks like it caught fire and got put out with a rake, the 4X4 Tuff one is purdy. If my chain drive conversion works, I'll be selling the pulley.
