I just ordered a pcv for my 2012 Vaquero, First of all for now I am running all stock accept for the KN filter and don't wanna take it to a dyno guy with it being all stock.

So here's my question, I don't know a lot about these pcv's but I would assume it comes with a map installed for a stock 1700 and how well does it work or should I install another map or if anyone running the same setup that has a map thats setup and works great for them and would wanna share it with me. I'm not really looking for more performance, the bike already has enough to get me in trouble. I'm hoping for better fuel millage. I ordered the Power Commander V 17-0033, and I know it would be easier but does the tank have to be completely removed to connect it? (any suggestions would be greatful)
Thanks!!!

OK you ordered the PCV with ignition. It's a little more complicated to install than the 17 – 006. Anyway, it will probably come with a zero map unless you request the retailer to install a specific map. The power commander website has a map you can try. At the bottom of the page at this link you will find map # 17-033-002.

With no other mobs, that's the best I can recommend.

Thanks Dave, I was looking at that earlier and I was thinking it would be the 005 because the Vaquero was list under that one, but I wouldn't think there would be that much of a difference because it's still the stock 1700. But you know more about it than I do! A buddy that moved to Arkansas asked me if I got the pc w/ignition and I told him I didn't think so because it wasn't listed in the details, so thanks for confirming that for me. He also told me that I would have a few extra wires to run if it did have the ignition.

Sorry, I overlooked the 005. So I just now compared them side by side.
The 005 has richer settings than the 002. That's not saying it's a bad thing.
You should try them both.
Do you know how to see the fuel table on the software?
There are so many variations in what makes a good map for a certain bike in a given area.
So getting a map that works for you without dyno testing is a great thing.
I do hope you can find one that works and you like.
But do ask questions, that's how we all learn from each other.

When I get the pc Dave I will probably be able to hook it up and and load maps blindfolded, but when I get into the fuel table and ignition settings that where it loses me. I was looking at the 02 and 05 maps also, not that I know what I'm looking at. I'll give them both a try and see which one seems to work better. I do have a question, If I do go with the 02 map it won't hurt the bike in any way?
Thanks Dave!

No it will not.---Running too lean is what can hurt an engine.
About the fuel table: the number you see at a intersection of the throttle & RPM represents the % of fuel added over the stock setting. So if you see a O that means nothing has changed from the factory setting. One or all the numbers can be changed on your computer with that software then saved back into the PCV. But you need to know what you are doing.
Press F1 or click "help" to learn more. Or just ask me in a PM.
