Hey guys, my buddy may be buying a 2000 Vulcan 750. I have a 800. He wants me to look at the bike. The guy is asking $1500. It has 19k miles

What do I. Need to look for on this bike?

Your opinions mean the world to me and I do not want to steer him wrong!

It's a steal.

Check everything as you would any bike. 750's run forever.
Best and safe best is to take it to a Kawasaki dealer, for
about $65.00 to $85.00 they will check it head to toe and
front to back. I've seen 93' VN750's go for $2500.00 and up.
Test ride it. Look for oil leaks. Let it for a while to check over
Heating. See if its hard to start after being warmed up. I also
agree with other post. Better to take this to the VN 750 forum.
I have a 98' VN 750. Sweet ride. Will handily handle what ever
you can throw at it. Lite, nibble and quick. Think Bruce Lee
as oppose to Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

I know I'm about two months late with this reply but the biggest 2 things to check when buying the 750 is the stator output and the splines on the rear diff input shaft. The stator is the weakest point of the electrical system and is hell to get to to replace it. Dealer will get usualy want $600 just in labor alone which requires an engine pull. Rear splines are most always neglected on the lubing part and will wear out if done so. New diff is $1100 plus but a good used ebay diff is $250 plus. So if the friend bought the 750 it only takes less than an hour to lube the splines,, do so! Otherwise, I love the hell out of mine!
