I didn't see a paint/body section in this site so I figured I'd ask here.
I am going to be painting the dash and engine guards of my uncles Victory Cross Country to match the rest of the bike. He would like the dash smoothed out as it is currently a textured plastic.
Would my best bet be to prep the parts then apply high build primer to smooth it out or would I be better off to base/clear then sand down and then reclear? The parts aren't very rough, they are just lightly textured. I was thinking it might fill in with the sealer, base, clear then sand away the orange peel and clear once again. I will be using Sikkens products other than the colour which he purchased from Victory. Or do both options give the same result?
I know this is a Kawasaki forum but I figured we're all bikers and you'd help me out. Thanks in advance.

Just an update for anybody curious how I made out. I ended up spraying some primer and then sanding smooth. It looks pretty good.
