I have a trip to Branson coming up in June. Can anyone put me on some roads that I need/should ride? Im planning on doing the riding in the northern area of Arkansas just south of Branson. I will go wherever is best to ride though.

Arkansas May 2013

That's my trip report from two years ago. It's a little further south than the AR/MO line, most of it near I-40, but only because we didn't have more time to keep going north. Lots of good riding out there.
thanks graybush, very informative and just what I was looking for.ill do 123 for sure. I also do the smokies about twice a year and I love it. I really l;ike those quite slow roads though and it seems like the Ozarks will be just the ticket.

NW Ark. It's like fallin off a turnip truk, you couldn't miss any all the great roads if you tried.
Besides Google.maps for salvatory tease, contact www Arkansas state travel.org they will send you free maps and brochures of evry activity-site you like. There is more to see and do than to fill up a week of riding.
I have a riders book at office dedicated to Arkansas. Later I will post title, etc. Poncho

get off any of the Primary roads onto Secondary two lane black tops and you will never run out "WhooHoos"!
Hot Springs. Hiway 7 north to Harrison. 157 miles of twisted sisters.
hiway 270 west from Hot Springs to Mena. hiway 1 west Talina Ok. Queen Wilhelmina skylinde drive.
Nw ar

eveyywhere around Jasper, AR is pretty sweet.
Ponch's comment reminded me about the printed brochures you can get for free. I have one...somewhere, but just requested a new one that has some dual sport routes in it. Start here:

I could do without most of the commentary in this video, but it does show some good snippets of the riding:

AK is beautiful to ride thru! I have friends that live there and I've been there twice and they taken my wife and I so many places I couldn't list them all. If you take rt65 out of Branson down to Harrison and catch rt7 and follow that down to a restaurant called Cliff House Inn and IMO has great food and they have a back deck that over looks what they call the Grand Canyon of AK, it's a little ways past Jasper AK. There is also on rt7 an old amusement park thats been closed down for many many years that I think is call Dogwood, it's really cool to see! From the restaurant you can make your way back up to a place called War Eagle Mill, it's another cool place to visit and thats not to far from Eureka Springs which is a must stop and shop place if your in AK. If you use Google map and map it out it's over 200 miles trip all day ride if you stop and smell the roses. I promise you, you will not be disappointed! Have a safe trip!
The Vulcan Riders Association and the Vulcan Bagger Association will be joining forces this year for a COMBINED rally for both of these great groups!! Mark your calendars!! June 23-25th in Eureka Springs Arkansas at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks for what promises to be the rally of rallies for Vulcan Motorcycles!!

Went to Eureka Springs in April 2011 for our honeymoon. Can't wait to make the trip on the bike, will be an awesome ride for sure and Hwy 7 is a must.

We travel to Eureka Springs every year for the past 10 years. We tavel with a group of Mustangs from all over the US. Legend lime registry, we love driving the roads there, just south of Eureka Springs is the pigs tail, its about an hour out of Eureka. While in Eureka hit up the BBQ joint, called the rocking pig. There is a HD shop with maps for all of the day rides out of town. I plan on taking the Vulcan there in may for the car show and getting some riding in.

Love that area. Take 86 to the state line hit 103 and ride all the way down to Oark General Store, Sherman, Arkansas. It is 100+ year old building with great burgers and homemade pie. It makes for a full day round trip back to branson but is well worth it. As others have mentioned 23 from Eureka south down the pig trail and 7 around Boxley canyon (elk country) and Jasper are great routes too. Personally 123 is too many switchbacks for me. Probabaly great for a crotch rocket. I personally prefer the twisties. The view in that area is fabulous though. Get gas often as many of these small towns dont have any. Enjoy.
Here is a good site (http://www.eurekaspringsmotorcyclerides.com/)for the rides and places to go around Eureka springs Arkansas. I would recomend the Big cat rescue, Little golden gate bridge, also there are some caves in the area, Mystic caverns being the best. The Cabin is a great steak house and bikers are welcome in the town. The roads are undivided two lane and great rides. GregT:D
graybush,i got the same brochures this week also. I really thank everyone for all the ideas. it looks like im not going to be disappointed for sure. I have ridden every road in the smokys from Tennessee to Virginia. I really love that area but im doing it different this year. I like the twisties better than anything. I think im gonna try to get up with the Vulcan groups while im there.

Here's a decent route that will get you good bang for the buck. You'll cross a ferry (it's free) take Hwy 7 south, hit one of the oldest general stores in AR, come back Hwy 23 (The Pig Trail) stop in Eureka Springs, AR and then head back to Branson.
thanks colemantle,i will do that ride. I believe its gonna be a great trip.

You'll like that route. Let me know if you need any more tips. Eating spots etc. I used to live in Destin. Spent some time around PCB. Didn't have a bike then though.
some ideas on local restaurants would be cool. I love to eat!
Lamberts in Ozark, Mo. About 30 min north of Branson. That's a must stop. On your ride try Tonys in Protem, MO. It's right by the ferry. Oark General Store in Oark. Rockin Pig Saloon in Eureka. (It's a bike friendly bar place with good food.)

As far as Branson goes there are tons of restaurants and most are average at best. These are the better ones
Branson-vaskens deli, billy Bob's dairy land, the keeter center. Level 2 steakhouse (good but pricey. Think Ruth's Chris) Billy Gail's Cafe and for a epic cinnamon roll try grandma Ruth's.
