I was removing my chrome radiator trim (chasing a rattle) when I noticed a small amount of what looked like black soot on my chrome rectifier/regulator (RR) cover. I removed the cover and found a little more soot, and oil film on the connector and wiring. I decided that this was collateral damage from my oil change back in October, thinking that I must not have cleaned up as well as I thought before re-installing the RR. I unplugged the RR connector and let it hang down while I removed and cleaned the RR. Upon returning about 10 minutes later I noticed what looked like an oil/water/soot mix dripping out of the connector. More than just a few drops...I'd say that given the size of the connector it must have been full of this stuff...a half-teaspoon or more. Ever seen anything like this?
