Greetings Guys...
IF the weather ever turns in favor of motorcycle riding, probably JUNE at this rate, I will be doing my start of the season oil change. I have decided to use Amsoil, as I have a guy at work who will get it for me at his cost. "SWEET" :D But anyways, what is the best oil filter to use, in all your humble opinons. Many choices I know, just want your thoughts:) Used a Kawasaki filter for the first change last Spring.

I too heard not to use car/truck filters due to the difference in oil pressure.
Mobil 1 & K&N are probably the top ones. The K&N has like a nut welded to the end so its very easy to be removed. I personally don't see the advantage of a $15+ oil filter, the more you block the oil to filter it the less oil pressure your bike will have. On the other hand I do recomend top oil brand but with a stock filter or similar.

I too run Amsoil in my bike and I run the Amsoil filter as well, so far I have been very happy with the oil/filter combination. If your interested the part number is EaOM103 for the black filter, I believe they also offer a chrome filter. The price was around $13 if I remember correctly.

Replace my factory oil with Mobil 1 10-40 motorcycle oil last change. Read a review that said one of the best filters was the Mobil filter so that's what I've been using. No problems, no leaks and it seems to run just fine. This time I used the Mobil M1-110 which is a little larger filter than the M1-108. The 110 filter makes you pull the rectifier out a little with spacers on the 900. When I change the filter again probably at 3,000 miles I'll use the 108, it's smaller and should fit just as the Kawasaki filter did.

Greetings again.......
Yes, the oil filter number for the 900 Classic or Custom or LT is EaOM103, and the chrome one, if your so inclined is EaOM103C. I will be ordering my oil and filter tomorrow from my guy @ work, at cost. "SWEET":D

I leave in north TX and it gets pretty hot in the summer and all my local stealers have advised me to NOT to use 20-50 on our 900s. They all said is too thick and its design for motorcycles that aren't water cooled.

A year ago even after I was advised not to use 20-50 I went ahead and did it anyways. My 900 became very noisy and cluncky so I called the local MC store that recomended the 20-50 and they advised me to run it for about 500 miles and it would thin a bit and would be perfect then. I put a total of 1000 miles and the bike did not go back to normal so I drained the oil only and went back to 10-40 and instantly the bike became smoother and the tranny loud clunck went away. Just FYI.

To make a long reccomendation short, you should be in good OK with K&N, Wix or OEM. Avoid Fram like the plague. Don't know about the rest, but it should be motorcycle specific.
