Hello, so I saw the bike, test drove it, and bought it this morning. Knocked down the price a bit more because the owner discovered that the rear brake wasn't working when he was riding to meet me. I test drove it carefully and the rest of the bike seems awesome (coming from a Rebel 250).

I don't think pictures do the Vulcan 500 justice, I thought it was just going to be a little wider than the Rebel 250 but the shifter feels so much cleaner, the weight does seem substantially heavier, everything down to the grips feel so upscale and like a luxurious bike!

So I'm excited, but I'm wondering what to do with this no rear brake? Basically, I press the rear brake pedal and it goes down without resistance (smooth but no resistance like the Rebel). Is it just a matter of needing brake fluid replaced?

I'll have to add the bike to my signature but it's a 2005 Vulcan 500 LTD.

I'm also going to need to learn how to get on the bike without kicking that passenger backrest...

Tthe rear brake is a drum brake, so no fluid. Check the linkage from the pedal to the drum.
