I just got a new bike, 2002 Vulcan 1500 classic. The bike is in pretty darn good shape but it has apple wheels which I do not like and to top the wheels off they are rusted and dull. Any pointers for easy restoration? Will the nomad stock wheels fit? They are cast and tubeless. My first tube tires would love any and all opinions and advice. Other than that loving the Vulcan

Many videos on Youtube on cleaning up chrome.
Water and crumpled aluminum foil
Coke and aluminum foil
Coke and fine steel wool
Chrome cleaner/polish etc.

use the four 0000 steel wool for chrome.

It all depends on the type of chrome that you're trying to revive.

Take it from someone that did loads if not tonnes of research on chrome, and im here to tell you that there are all different types of chroming.

You have parts that are plastic with coated chrome on it.
Then you have metal with chrome on it, but with metal there are 2 types of chroming, 1. They just simply paint a coat over the product. 2. They acid dip it with electricity. Acid dipping is the best of all chromes, serious people do this as this finish is known as showroom quality finish.

Now the most serious question when comes to chrome, is what type is your chrome?
For showroom chrome you never ever use any type of metal or metal type cloth to clean it, ie. aluminium, steel wool, etc... That will just ruin your chrome. Although i personally wouldnt use these methods, but i found by using a firm rubber sponge and water works best to clean and shine chrome if your not looking for that showroom type finish or if its below showroom chrome finish type.

But if you are looking for that showroom finish quality, then you should use "Blue Job". This is the best product for chrome restoration, plus polishing.
But once you have a showroom finished chrome then you only need to use a microfibre cloth and use windex or Mr Sheen (which is what i personally use) to keep it clean and keep your chrome away from mid to heavy duty degreasers and cleaners.

But the chrome that i was trying to restore was beyond repairing due to really bad pitting, which i then started to try all these different methods, and this is what i found. Aluminium foil & water works for really bad corrosion and rust, or a firm rubber sponge and water kind of did the same if not better then the aluminium and foil as the rubber wont damage the chrome. I used other metal polishers and found them really pointless and did nothing. The only product that actually worked was "Blue Job".
So after i was finished testing, i had my exhaust covers re-chromed and installed them on my bike.

Which is why i know a lot about chrome, as i did roughly almost 2 months of research into it.
For those that are curious of 2 different types of chrome im talking about ill provide the 2 vid's showing you...

The painted on cheap version -> Painted Chrome
The dipped expensive version -> Dipped Chrome
