Got the bike about 3 weeks ago and have been loving every minute of it.
Just hit the 600 mile mark the other day. :D

I added V&H slash cut staggerd, chrome radiator cover, regulator cover, brake reservoir cover and license plate cover. I'm now looking into the fuel packs and air intakes. $$$$$$$$

Reading the posts on this forum have really helped in my descision making as well as helped increase my knowledge about the bike.

Thanks

I'm a newbie....only 62...and have been a rider for about 40 years.
bought my 900 Classic LT new in 06 and have NO complaints. The shop
crew at Monroe Motorsports in Monroe, Wa. put it together right...right
out of the box. I have a little over 7,000 miles on it now. Minor isssues
like the inaccurate speedo/fuel guage don't bother me much and it sounds
like some have figured out simple fixes.
I'm really impressed with this forum and the administrators and all the 900
owners who share their concerns and modifications.
Like most of you, I've added some foo-foo to my LT...

Tank and fender chrome trim....ok, fine

An inexpensive Baron tach (about $65) (not really necessary, but I'm used to
having a tach) Works great and was SIMPLE to install

Some el-cheapo chrome driving lights that really light up the road...(Wal-Mart $15)
An extra inch or two of padding under the driver saddle at my local upholstery shop
($65) really made a difference.

A studded handlebar bag ($20)

Highway bars/engine guard ($156)

About $300 bucks total....(I'm cheap) But it all looks good to me.

Fact is....I'd be happy with this bike as it came out of the box....but we all
need to personalize it somewhat.

I'm looking forward to learning more from you and what you,ve done to yours.

Some issues I've seen posted and my humble opinion:

Inaccurrate speedometer and fuel guage....annoying, but no big deal
Look at the bright side....you won't get a ticket or run out of fuel.

Clicking noise at certain RPM.....Mine went away after about 6,000 miles

A sixth gear.....welllllllll.....sometimes I think about it...buttttt.....I like the
torque....two lane blacktop & curves. Mine is happy (and so am I) at 40-65 mph.
I can run at 80 all day, too....but I hate riding the freeway.

My humble advice to those who may be considering a 900 classic or classic Lt

A: It just may be the worlds first "out of the box" nearly perfect motorcycle

B: Be prepared to spend a few extra bucks to make it "yours"

C: Grin widely at how much less you've spent compared to buying and
personalizing a $20-30,000 bike.

D: Ride safe and enjoy

Wayne

Welcome to the family, it's quite liberating to go anywhere you want at 50-58mpg (I came from a worked Mustang that got 15mpg :)). Semper Fi

Jarhead, welcome aboard! If you ever see me riding, I'm easy to spot. I'm the fella with the widest, silliest grin on my face.
