Love this forum so far, great info for a new (used) vulcan owner. Just got my 2013 with only 4,275 miles on it....hasn't been ridden enough, but the first owner put a lot of mods on it. Cobra pipes, K&N air filter, cobra pro-tune module. Corbin seat, new grips, Baron tach, quick detach windshield, sissy bar, back rest and luggage rack. LED turn signals and headlight.
I love it the way it is, took it our for the maiden voyage with the wife on back and she loves it too....although our 2004 Goldwing was a lot more comfy for her.
I have yellow led driving lights to install, cruise control lever, TPMS system, usb charger port w/ voltage indicator, and I'm looking for a good wrap-around backrest for my wife. She felt a lot more secure on the goldwing setup. Will also add saddlebags or a trunk, still looking.
It cruises easily at 70 mph (on gps) at exactly 4,000 rpm....is that the factory gearing?
The PO also included a front sprocket, I think it is the Barons 34 tooth, not sure I will install it yet.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and bike, and thanks to everyone for the great informational posts!

Thank you. I may end up selling the passenger backrest, but my wife is not going to give up the seat...LOL. I've been looking at rear trunk / wraparound backrest combos on Amazon. They are made for Harleys, but I think I can make them fit on the Vulcan. Thanks again and enjoy your 900!

Welcome. That is indeed a good looking bike. I’ll double check that gearing rpm, but it sounds like the front was replaced and maybe you have the original off the bike? Is it the 180 or 170 tire on the rear now?

Likely factory gearing after double checking. Here are the charts for factory gearing on different rear tires. The speedo is off from the factory almost exactly the same amount as what the 170/80 rear makes up for, these are gps checked speeds vs rpm.

Yes you can make it work if you’re handy. Many have done it.
