I am trying to get my brother's 1999 Vulcan on the road again. It has not been rode for two years but has been started and allowed to idle every month or so.

My immediate problem is that I want to change the plugs and can not get the job done. The bike does not have a tool kit or owner's manual and a regular 18mm spark plug socket will not fit down the small round well. I have the tank off. I have been searching the forums here and have not found a solution. I read on here that the back cylinder takes a 5/8 socket which would work out to about 16mm. I ordered a special thin wall 18 mm socket from Kawasaki but that still won't fit down the well.

So, question 1, what size wrench do I need for the front plug and the back plug.

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh man, I feel so stupid. Somehow I got the idea it was 18mm . Thanks for the info. I will try a 5/8" tomorrow.
