Kinda chilly today, but I decided to ride into the city to the VA hospital for one of my two recurring weekly appointments. As I'm sure you can all understand, my Vulcan can turn an otherwise ho-hum, humdrum event into an enjoyable day.

So after I left the hospital I'm sitting at a traffic light a couple of blocks away when a voice says, "Is that a 900?" I look over and there's a friendly bearded face looking at me out a school bus window.

"Yup," says I.

"I've got one," he says.

As the light changes I say, "You like it?"

And the last thing I hear as I pull away is, "Love it!"

Y'know, things like that never happen when I'm in my Ford Escort. ;)

It's amazing how bikes can make people who have nothing else in common speak or wave to each other. Don't see that with cages.

I just recently sold my 1995 Escort, and I miss it.
To be honest, I missed it from the time we decided that it needed to be sold.

Mine's a '97 I inherited when my mom died. I'm glad I own it and darn glad to have it when it rains, but it doesn't get me friendly comments from the guy in the next lane! :)

Yeah, my other ride is a 2000 Ford Focus. Its the reason I never feel my 900 is underpowered or too buzzy over 70 mph.

I love all of the comments I get from people when they see my Vulcan, especially the ones that say "Nice Harley!". Those crack me up the most. It even has all of the stock decals and badging. I don't bother to explain to most that Harleys don't have radiators.

I was in the coffee shop yesterday and that same thing happened, a guy walked in, saw the only guy in leather,(me) and asked if that was my Harley outside. I chuckled, looked outside and saw a Yamaha snow machine on the back of his truck. I told him that my bike was a Harley the same way his ride was a Ski-Doo. I know this story won't make any sense to those south of Wyoming, but in the 60's, Ski-Doo made a snow machine that was so ridiculously popular the whole sport became Ski-Dooing, and still is today. Harley has been around with their archaic "technology" so long that everyone thinks everything with two wheels is a Harley:confused: Regardless, I chuckle every single time I hear the comment:D

While riding around Stillhouse Lake today it occurred to me...I very well may have the perfect motorcycle.
Perhaps that's why people who have no idea what a Vulcan is, like to look, and tell us know how cool our bikes are.
