I am wanting to get an aftermarket seat to make my highway rides more comfortable. I want it to fit the flow of the bike (2010 custom SE) and i was considering a Saddleman Renegade but then i read on here there were fitment issues on the customs and I'm not sure if gel would be the way to go in the summer (wont it get and stay hot if out in the sun?) and i thought about a mustang daytripper but i've seen people say it pushes you forward and makes you sit higher, I'm 6'1 and about 165lbs, i dont wanna sit any higher on the bike or closer to the front. What else is out there? I really wish i had some places around here that stocked these so i could see what i like best.

I have the saddlemen solo gel. It's pretty comfortable. I still have to give my butt a rest after a couple if hours. It is a little narrower than the oem seat, but seems to push you forward a bit (maybe an inch). No issue with the fit. I think there are 2 generations of this seat and I'm pretty sure I have the newer version. Maybe the fit issues are on the first generation.

Solo seat

I put the Saddlemen on my 900C, no problems with fitment, seat is firm for a while, drops you into the bike a bit more than the stocker. Had pictures, but on my old laptop:mad:

Hmm, i like the looks of it. How long did it take to get softer? I only road about 5300 miles last year (got the bike april first last year, rained alot so i didnt ride much) and I'm hopeing to ride atleast 7k miles this year so i'm wanting something i'm going to like. Also did you purchase them directly from the saddleman site? or else where?

I have a bike with the Saddleman and I really like it, non of the problems you mentioned, and it is very comfortable. I have a mustang seat with the removable back rest for my 900LT I like it very well. I agree on the seat pushing you forward. It looks good but looks are soon forgotten when you are on a trip and your butt is on fire.

The best seat I ever had was a Corbin Solo, I could ride for hour and feel fine. I am an old f(&0- and have had most of the seats in 50 yrs of riding. I have been very pleased with the saddleman seats, very comfortable.....

Very True, i really wish i could find someone local with this seat, I'm not really sure if forward is a good thing or bad or if i will notice it all that much. I am already thinking of getting forward control extensions...

I rode it for about 1500 mi before I took a rubber mallet to it and tenderized it a bit. I didn't pound the crap out of it or anything, but I tapped it into the back and softened the edges a bit. I find it really comfortable now.

Saddlemen web site

I forgot to mention that I bought it directly from Saddlemen off the website. You have to set up an "account", but it was a painless procedure and the seat was shipped fairly promptly (thru customs to Canada):D

"Tenderized" it...LOL. That's pretty funny, but I just put mine on about 300 miles ago, and it's pretty hard. I'm gonna try that.

I'm using the Kawi Custom Comfort Gel Seat with flames. I freakin love this seat! I have to be honest. It was almost unbearably hard for about the first 1000 miles. But then it started to break in. It's gotten better with every passing mile. I've ridden on countless 2 to 3 hour non stop rides without any discomfort.

I've also heard that gel seats get real hot in the summer sun. I really couldn't tell any difference from the stock as far as heat goes.

Well, i was up at J&P cycles yesterday, i picked up a memphis shades windshield but i just couldnlt bring myself to buy the seat yet. Maybe in a couple weeks. Any others out there for different seats for their customs, good or bad reviews? I keep hearing good and bad about the saddlemen seats.
