I've been trying to figure out which type of bulb this is without removing anything but searching has come up empty or I just missed it

any help?

My other thought was to move the plate up, eliminate the lp light oval and use an led strip under the fender to illuminate...

When I bought my bike the guy had moved the plate up but didnt put a light on. I just bought led plate bolts for $6

ya, saw those too but didn't see a real good pic of night-time illumination.

not that I want my plate as the focus but when some police are notorious for stupid pull-overs I want to keep a clean sheet.

on a side note:
Guess I should really get the bike inspected then too since it's been up since last year :D

The ones I bought illuminate the plate more than enough I checked when riding last night and could easily see the light from the led on the ground behind the bike

so took out the bulb yesterday (actually pretty dam easy) and found its an R5W Stanley 12V.

quick search resulted in a ninjette.com forum post listing 3 bulbs:

67(LL)
5007
1156

the socket is all the same (BA15 or w/e) just the bulb height/size is different

btw I moved the plate up with no mods, just tucked the top edge under the rubber of the light housing and used the stock reflector bolts so I'd still be legal if its required.
