Guys, could use some advice. Recently installed a Kawsaki quick release windshield on a Vulcan 650. Everything works great, but the windshield does not install or release quickly as advertised. Essentially the clearances are too tight between the two brackets. Said another way, the bracket which mounts the windshield to the forks is too tight. The windshield goes on, but you have to tap it on with a rubber mallet (very gently) to get it to slide over the receiving bracket. Once installed, works great. Any suggestions?

Maybe something's just a little crooked. With the windshield on the bike try loosening all the hardware on the mounts and the windshield, then tightening them until they're just barely snug. Try removing and replacing it then. If it's better, tighten the bolts one at a time, removing and replacing the windshield until you find the bolt that's pulling things out of whack.

Thanks guys. Tried reinstalling, looks like the problem is definitely tolerances which are just too tight between the two parts. Looks like a manufacturing issue. Think I will try polishing the surfaces using a jewelers file as Pcarrell suggests.
