I just ordered a mustang vintage seat, and I'm pretty excited about it. That stock thing is some type of torture device.
Anyways.
I have the OEM backrest. I like the way it looks. I've never had to concern myself with how it feels. Passengers report that its a little short. I'm hoping to find a bigger pad that can go on the current frame, even just a few inches taller, wider isn't such an issue. I was thinking something universal like this (not this exact one, hoping for a little higher quality):

I don't mind screwing my own holes, etc. but the reviews on that one say there's only a 1/4 piece of plywood in that one. Hoping for something more sturdy, maybe a name brand. Don't want to break the bank, but I can certainly afford more than 9.99! I'd even be willing to replace the bar that comes up out of the brackets if I could find one that I knew would fit.

Thanks for your input!

Here's why I'd like a taller backseat, especially with the mustang seat. The new seat comes up pretty high. No thoughts from anyone?

Do you find the mustang seat rose you, the driver, up higher? I hear it definitaly moves you forward a bit but how about height? im short and can just flat foot the bike now so dont want to go up any but the stock seat, as with all stock seats, sucks. I think they are paid off by Corbin/mustang/Saddleman to put crappy stock seats on bikes!

Not sure how high this would bring you but there are some affordable options for sissy bars around
