I know this is a decently common topic of discussion but I recently bought these bars in 17s https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/todds-cycle-1-stripper-handlebars and the corresponding cables https://www.jpcycles.com/product/zz52952/baron-custom-accessories-stainless-handlebar-cable-and-line-kit-for15-17-bars
and I was doing a little looking on google for a detailed breakdown of the installation and kept seeing wiring harness being mentioned. My question being, is extending the wiring harness a requirement or just suggested? The cable kit only has the throttle, brake and clutch cables. And if I do have to extend the wiring harness is it just a simple trip to the hardware store to grab what gauge wiring?

There is a good chance you'll have to extend the wiring as well, yeah. I think they probably make kits to make it simplier, but it's essentially just the same thing you could do yourself by soldering and heatshrinking in extra length, if you're so inclined and comfortable. If you're going to go the DIY route, it would make it simplier to keep track of now and troubleshoot later if you use the same color wires to extend as the stock wire harness.
