I've gutted up to the front of the muffler, this means the front of the can and it's around 1 inch opening are still there along with the Catalytics in front of that, I'm also running a BAK and although I have a GMAN Bully processor, it's running mostly stock settings. You shouldn't need a processor BUT after modding and running for a couple hundred, pull the plugs and look at them. If you haven't looked at em yet, better take a peak and get a baseline.

I've been thinking of changing to a hyper charger or the BAK and wonder which will provide the better performance. The hyper charger looks really cool, but I keep reading some great things on the BAK. I am like k3wtf, in that I have done the Stage 1 muffler mod and do not intend to go any further. It purrs great for my taste.....I hope not to have to go with the fuel processor also, so k3, if you could let me know how it works out for you I would appreciate it......Thanks in advance....Walt E.

Both provide the same performance. They both ease the flow of air past the point where the 900 can take advantage of it. ie, the 900 can't suck so hard that either one of these would provide more flow though I hear the BAK provides MORE unrestricted flow then the Hypercharger. And if you start thinkin about "But what about the ram air effect" of the Hypercharger take into account that the bottom of the hyper charger is open. No doubt about it though, if you get the Hypercharger with the moving butterflies OR that Odyssey one it really looks pretty cool IMO.

In the end, grab the one that you like the looks of the most. Don't forget to look at the Ness Big Sucker OR look at the aftermarket add on where you'll have to make your own backplate but can be done with a K&N filter for under 75 bucks. All of these open the intake airflow up to the 900's maximum abilities. You'd have to put a blower on the 900 to get air in there faster, which someone was doing.

There won't be much gain until the exhaust flows better. During my debaffle I opened my pipes up all the way to the converter. The inner baffle plate eventually submitted to a 2-1/4" hole saw.

Bak

I did the installs of the BAK and the FI2000r on Friday. As you know I am happy with stage 1 exaust mod. Well all I can say is what a difference! The BAK moves lots of air. Ran 200 miles 2up and still got 47mpg. Its like a new bike...
