I am looking at a 2011 Vaquero that is a gorgeous red. I love the red but do not like the flames that are with it.

Does anyone know what it would take to remove those flames?

the 2011 shouldn't have flames, only the 2013 and 2014 SE (green and orange)

it may be painted but could see if there is an edge for a decal to peel off

I am the opposite, I like the flames, wish that there was a decal kit for my '22.

It is listed for sale on Cycletrader as a 2011. Really pretty red, just the flames are not for me.

It doesn’t really take much to repaint a bike. You just have to know how. I prefer House of Kolor automotive paints but you would need a mixture that is resistant to chemicals, otherwise every time you stop for fuel, you will ruin the tank.

If it's a 2011 and red they are not factory flame decals. Either someone has painted them on or applied decals.

Just in case you do have some painting skills - I would strip the tank with aircraft stripper, use filler primer for aluminum/metal, sand it with ultra fine grit wet sandpaper, then use a tack cloth and make sure it is absolutely lint and dust free before applying a first very light tack coat. Wet sand between coats and let it cure.
