My 1998 750 is having an issue with a high engine idle and revving for no reason. This bike is new to me, having only had it a week or so. Today I was practicing with it (a newbie here) and while I was driving it, the engine started revving real high and i had trouble stopping because the speed wouldn't reduce even though I wasn't giving it any gas. The spark plugs were changed yesterday so I don't think that is it but I could be wrong.

Any idea what to look at or what it might be? I don't know the mileage because it has no sppedometer/odometer. The former owner had not riden it in awhile and it had been sitting in the garage.

Thanks for any advice.

has the throttle cables been serviced? Check to see if there is any binding or kinks in the throttle cable as well.

A vaccum leak may be the cause as well....
