I took the fairing apart a while back and after putting it back together the headlight seems to be loose in its mounting on the left side. By this I mean if I push on the headlamp glass on the right side the light is solid in the mounting. If I push it on the left side the light pushes in about half an inch if I let go it springs back out.

My question is is this normal or have I missed something when putting the fairing back together?

Possibly the adjustment for left to right alignment is what you are feeling. Might also be a similar adjustment for height.

Well I found it and it might need to go on your occasional maintenance list

The problem was the screws and plastic brace holding the headlight to its mounts had worked loose. This allowed movement all over the place. You can see by the rust around the bracket how much they were bouncing around. No sure how much to tighten them but snigged them up so I could still adjust the light and so far all good. Best of all I never had a blown bulb
