I am looking to get some hard bags for my Classic LT.........does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for as much holding space as possible but nothing so big that they don't look like they belong on the bike.

Hi M2/Jo Anne

What don't you like about the Kawa original LT bags?
Reason Is it the "leather look" you don't like or the size of the bags?

If size there will be more choices for you such as Leatherlyke, US Saddlebags, Leather Pro...

Check out Tsukayu. Here's a link. http://www.tsukayu.com/Bike_Kawasaki_Vulcan5.html
You might consider the Leather Lyke bags. I put a set on my wife's 900 Classic LT and she loved them. They are of very high quality, seem to be quite tough, and they are absolutely waterproof. At least in a heavy rain. I wouldn't ride under water with them, though, just to test the theory. LeatherLyke has several different styles with bike-specific mounting kits.
I can second the LeatherLyke. They are great bags, though, not the prettiest. They look good and hold all my gear. Jacket in one side, everything else in the other (chaps, gloves, mask, etc.)
Had leatherlyke's on my '04 1500 Classic Lt until an azzhat backed into my bike in a parking lot. They saved my bike. Absolutely luuuuuved them! Big, roomy, sturdy, lockable and easily accessible as they open from the top, not the side. Looking to buy another set if I can find some gently used ones. They're bike specific/shock cut-out so it's been hard to find a set for me.

Tsukayu has temporarily lowered the price on all Tsukayu Fiberglass Hard Bags.
They will only give us Drop Ship Pricing now, but the price is right for these bags. The price will actually be a little lower then directly from Tsukayu.
Delivery time should only be a couple of weeks also.
I have had the Strong's on my own bike for a long time, they still look like new.

Bought a set of viking bags for my 500 and very happy with them, cant beat the price. They have a good selection, run from $169 to $399 with mounting hardware.
Check out post #546 here. Not sure about how they'll work with the exhaust, but if you can get all the mounting hardware, they might work for you.

As an FYI...I had looked into the Tsukayu Jumbo Strong bags for my 2009 1700 Classic LT. I measured them out and made a template to test fit, before I bought then.

The exhaust side is the problem, at least for me...with the twin pipes (Vance & Hines Big Shots) and the way they are shaped, the Tsukayu bags would have to run too high up. This means that they would not fit the shape of the back end properly, and would interfere with the passenger legroom.

They could be mounted back further, or still make work if you have a lower slung exhaust.

I made some notes on the dimensions of various hardbags....

OEM Classic LT Softbags
20” x 11” x 8”

OEM Voyager
25” x 16-18” x 10"

OEM Nomad
27” x 17” x 8"

Tsakyu
27” x 15.25” x 10”

Cavalry
25” x 14” x 9”

Cavalry Fiberglass
26” x 13” x 9"
