That's all pretty normal with a lot of the 1700's. I have to jerk around to find neutral until the bike comes off high idle......solution is to just let it warm up until it idle's down on its own.09 classic with 15,000mi
When the bike is cold (under 5min run time ) it has a hard time finding N.
and when the bike has warmed up the gear indicator after3rd gets lost.
I have to wiggle the shifter to show the correct gear.
