On my fuel pump, after HOURS of trying to figure out what it was, I ran into some frayed wiring on my fuel level sensor. It appears to be all one piece, is there a coating or something I can use to keep it covered that won't get eaten by the fuel? Or are there replacements without buying the entire pump/filter assembly? Pictures to follow.

Hi Gman. That looks like residual gunk from bad fuel when your bike was sitting. If it is still operative, would clean it up and reinstall. Shouldn’t happen again.

Just with having the wire exposed, really don't feel like having the tank blow up in my face.

I do not own your model. Is that piece mounted on the side of the fuel pump? It doesn’t look like it was a fully sealed wire.

Here is a link showing the fuel gauge. Part number 52005-0022. Is that your part?

Here is a link to a replacement fuel pump.
