I've always run Fuel Injector cleaner through my cars every 5K miles or so.

I would think it's a good practice on these bikes as well. I usually buy it in a bottle that "treats" 20 gals of gas so I'd have to scale it down but ... I do have one question ...

Are there any "special considerations" for using this stuff on a motorcycle? I wouldnt think so but ... never hurts to ask ...

Also ...would this be a once a year thing? Every 1000 miles?

I have heard from several sources (nothing scientific, though) that these kinds of additives are really not necessary when you use a decent quality gas. Good gas should contain all the necessary chemicals to prevent the deposits and an eventual clogging.

Surely, the injector cleaner maker will want you to believe that without the additive the injector will surely get yucky over time, but I am not so sure about that...

Has anyone of you guys had a clogged injector on a Vulcan just from normal usage?

Sea Foam is the juice of preferance around here. Most say it seems to work best and I've read on line where some mechaically inclined riders also recommend it. I run it about every 3K-4K and it seems to work well. One can will do 2 tanks of gas.

Sea Foam rocks!!! This stuff does wonders for gummed up carbs on lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chain saws, etc.

If you ride regularly and use decent gas, then crap getting built up shouldn't be a problem. I'd be more worried about it if you leave the bike sitting for extended periods. In which case, Sea Foam also works as a fuel stabilizer.

One thing I will note, I was definately able to tell if I was running a tank of straight gas or gas+Sea Foam when riding different bikes over the years. The gas + Sea Foam tanks were a little sluggish when cracking the throttle open from idle, and overall just doesn't quite have the same snap.
