Foot peg position

There are (as we know) 3 foot control positions...Reduced Reach, Mid Reach and Extended Reach. The position is dependent upon where you bolt the foot controls on the side plates of the bike:

In this picture (left side of bike, right side has a different pattern but you'll get the idea) there are three sets of mounting holes...forward-most bolt holes are for Extended Reach (furthest from the seat, marked with arrows and an 'A' in the picture); the middle set for Mid Reach, rear set are for Reduced Reach.

The foot controls can be set at any of the positions, but you must have the appropriate shift rod to make sure the shifter pedal can connect to the transmission:

Retail price of shifter rods is $5.95 so it's cheap to experiment.

Link to instruction page on the Kawasaki website regarding how to install shifter rods (this one is for extended reach):

The instruction set shows how to move both left and right side controls, with pictures...pretty easy.

Zandar is correct, as always...as my wife keeps reminding me [emoji16]. I just hope they never meet; that shopping trip might cost me a bundle.

For future reference here are the rod part numbers and lengths:

Vulcan S shift rods (including the threads)
99994-0659 Extended Reach 230mm (9.055")
39111-0322 Mid Reach 205mm (8.07")
99994 -0674 Reduced Reach 180mm (7.08")

The reason the Mid rod has a very different part number is because it is the production part that comes on all Vulcan S bikes from the factory...the other two are accessory parts.

BTW Phatman...you might consider updating your profile to include location, etc. It helps so we know whether to include metric or SAE measurements lol...
