I searched every way I thought of, but couldn't find this answered:

Why is there a pivot in the floorboards? It is so small, that it doesn't seem to have any function, but I must be overlooking something.

I always ASSUMED:

It gives a little movement when you drag em.
That little movement translates into a few more degrees of lean angle before a hard part hits and you lose traction to your tires.

You wouldn't want them to "fold up" too much and squash your foot......
