Hi all

I have a set of engine guards that the PO gave me. I called the local Kawi dealership and they want $280 to fit it-
I'm not inclined to pay so much. Just had a look at it today, in the hope I could muddle through it myself. Well as I thought-I'm confused....to be quite honest not even quite sure which bar fits left or right-not a good start !!
One bar has two holes on the bottom and one bar has a single hole. I'm inclined to believe the 2 hole bar fits right
as they line up with 2 bolts on the left side of bike.

However on the left side of bike I can find zero holes to line up-there are two holes ( see pic) that I thought would
accommodate two bolts-but they are not even grooved in order to accept a bolt. Just have two zip ties going through.
And that black bar in the middle of the bars ? PO said it goes through where the radiator is...but not sure where exactly-probably behind rather than in front I reckon....anyone advise.

Anyway looks as if that $280 seems the bargain of the century-but if anyone can walk me through it-would be
mightily obliged. Included some pics of bike- PO put black wrap on iot with red stripe-I like it.
Thanks and cheers !

Will the stock passenger backrest fit with the set up I have currently on bike ? see pic above- corbin seat with corbin bags. The PO gave me the stock passenger backrest complete with luggage rack-which I would love to have. If I removed the bags-could I fit the stock set up -and then put the bags back ?

The crash bar set up looks the same as mine but looking at your bike I don't see the bracket at the top left of the rad that I have on my 04. I took pics of the set up I have, which looks identical to yours. Positioning is from a seated viewpoint..

That little curved piece joins the two tops together right behind the radiator cap

Danad hi

I managed to fit the right engine guard pretty easy thanks to your pics-but I cant for the life of me find where the left bottom guard

bolts into. There are two holes on the left side ( which I showed in the initial posting as a pic) but they are not threaded and dont look

as if they can accept any bolts. I stuck a screwdriver through each hole to check if there was an opening on the other side, but seems

to be completely sealed. I'm stumped, cause those two holes line up nicely with the two holes at the bottom of the left guard.

Am I missing something ?

Still trying to get this figured out? I have an 07 with the OEM bars.... could help you try to figure it out. (Edit) Just took a closer look at the pics that Danad posted... mine would look the same. It's been a long time since I did the install but, iirc, one, or both of the brackets for the foot boards had to be changed? Any spare parts that don't make sense to you ?

Edit 2: Found this online.... https://www.kawasaki.com/Content/Uploads/Accessories/K32000043A/ii_K32000043A.pdf

Hi, did you finally get the bars installed or did you end up taking it to the dealer? Ihave the same year bike and bought the oem bars also. I am waiting on the bracket, which is a discontinued part. I ordered it from a company in Japan.

It is getting more difficult to find OEM parts in Canada now that the beast is becoming dated. I have a machine shop in town that has made me adapters for HD accessories rather than hunting down used or old Kawi stock. And, I had the engine guards installed before I picked my 04 up, so there were plenty of parts around then lol.. One thing that a machine shop can't do is take an impact warp out of a rear brake disc. We tried to press it out and then run it on the lathe to clean it up so I could still ride while the new disc came from wherever but it was an expensive effort in futility. I still rode the bike across the prairies on my way to Sturgis and "met" my new rotor in Estevan Saskatchewan, just north of the ND border lol... Braking was MUCH smoother after the new one was installed:nerd: The V2K is a labor of love lol
