Hi guys,

I installed the Kawasaki back rest and luggage rack on my 900 custom the other day. It was a real pain to install but I finally got it. Anyway, it looks great but when I sit on the bike I hear a squeek/rubbing. I figured out it's the chrome plastic fender strut covers. The front seat pushes a bit on the cover tips which causes them to rub against the black metal bars they are covering underneath and make a squeeking/rubbing sound.

What does that mean and what can I do to stop it? It didn't do it before I took the strut covers off to put the back rest on. I can't figure out how I have it placed wrong, since I assume that if I can get the two screws in with no resistance it's in the right place. Just not sure. I trying relieving some torque in the strut cover screws, but to no avail.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The brackets should not be tight against the covers, they will get real scratched up. If they are you need to put some hard spacers into the cover holes to give the brackets some room. You dont want to leave any hardware loose or you might loose your passenger unexpectedly.
