Went out to take my bike ('01 Vulcan 500 LTD) for a ride the other day. In neutral, key turned to on, hit electric start, tried to crank, didn't start. Tried again, no crank just a single click noise. Threw the battery on a charger, got it up, battery doesn't seem to be the issue. Thinking its the starter or starter relay, or possibly a fuse. Wondering the best way to troubleshoot this and for any other ideas from those with more experience.

Thanks in advanced.

I would not rule out the battery yet. Suggest a battery load test.

Battery might seem charged and if voltage checked might show good level, yet the amps (power) to crank the engine isnt there.
How old is battery?

Either have it load tested or -
check voltage when cracking.
If it drops under 10 volts its bad.

Similar thing happened to my wife 500 last year. She went a month without riding. Didn't start up. We put it in the trickle for a few hours. Didn't work. I left it on the trickle for about 2 days. Problem solved. Good luck.
