Engine swapability

What year engines will swap into a 92 Vulcan 1500?
I've been offered to purchase one that has a seized engine.
At this point I just want to get some prices to see if it's worth my time. My plan would be to buy a used engine and swap it in the bike.

I think they're pretty much the same up through 1995 if I recall correctly. .

any A, B, or C model should fit. also the 88 and the 88SE had the same engine. The D was the classic, introduced in 96, theres a whole heap of changes then.
