Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone installed an ejk tuner on there vaquero? Any suggestions on setup, fuel economy after or if any difference in drivability? Thanks. Kent.

I have an EJK on a Voyager. My first suggestion is, if you don't already have an EJK, get Ivan's ECU flash instead. If I had known about the flash before I got the EJK, I would have done that instead. The flash does a lot more than just control fuel, so it is the better option. The EJK works OK for me and I can't justify throwing it out and paying even more for the flash. If you have the EJK and can return it or don't mind throwing it away for something better, go with Ivan's flash.

If you already have the EJK, it may or may not help fuel economy. It didn't make much difference on mine. If your bike is stock and you plan to keep it that way, it will help drivability a little, and will make it run a little cooler. If you have aftermarket pipes, it will help a little more, but not much. If you have a BAK (Big Air Kit), it will make a much bigger difference. The BAK needs more fuel or the bike will run way too lean. Even a K&N direct drop in replacement air filter has a higher air flow than the stock filter, so adding fuel is needed even with those. Whatever you have, it will be a more responsive and run cooler if set up right.

Setting it up for your personal sweet spot will take some time. Dobeck has suggested initial settings and I could give you mine. Adjust to your personal preference from there.

Thank you for the reply. I already have the ejk tuner. I thought about Ivan's ECM reprogramming but if I added pipes I didn't know if I would have to get it reprogrammed again or not. I added a drop in k&n filter and found a pretty good difference on a 250 KLM ride yesterday. May have a set of shark road pipes I'll be adding in the future. I was reading on the forum that some people were trying different settings but I find it a little confusing. Thanks.

With a K&N filter, it's going to be running quite lean and could damage the tail pipes eventually, as well as burn the plugs, and fry you if you ride on a hot day. If you get into any stop and go traffic on a hot day, you could have overheating issues, too.

I'll have to look for my notes with my settings. I'll post them up for you. They may or may not work for you, depending on your riding style. I don't hit the throttle hard, accelerating and slowing at a much less aggressive rate than most, and I tend to stay around 65 - 70 mph on highways even in 80 mph zones.
I can be semi-agressive when starting from a dead stop but otherwise I'm pretty average. I'm in Newfoundland Canada so speed around here is 100 kms per hour ( around 60 mph). But I normally drive 120 to 130 kms per hour. Thanks.
I just realized that my EJK is a 3.0 not a 3.5. My numbers won't work if you have a 3.5. The 3.0 only added fuel. The 3.5 can actually reduce fuel, so if you used my numbers it would run even leaner!

How you tune it is the same. Start with the low throttle range and get the amount and delay dialed in. Then do the mid range, etc. I found it easier to do it in mountains with the unit velcro'd to the right side storage door of the fairing so I could actually see when the lights changed during acceleration. Going uphill in lower gear will make it easier to set the higher throttle settings. At least it did for me.
Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.
One more thing. Do you use the oxygen sensor bypass or leave it connected? Thanks.

Mine is a 2010, so no O2 sensor, but there was nothing in the instructions about disconnecting it.
My tuner came with a o2 sensor plug in to bypass the o2 sensor.

Call or email Dobeck and ask them. They were very helpful when I had some questions.
Will do sir. Thanks.
Contacted dobeck and they said if you leave the 02 sensor connected you have to turn off the green fuel otherwise the computer will be fighting the green fuel. I installed the o2 bypass plug. Hopefully it helps somebody.
