Went to pick my new glasses up today, it's 10 minutes away, got home three hours later. I had to test the new glasses while riding right?

That usually how my errands go when riding my bike. And my wife has the nerve to ask me "what took you so long?" lol

This is going to be long, bear with me, I had a full day of riding.

Got a nice ride today with a group from a HD forum. Had a rider sliding around on gravel and cows in the road. But even with all of that it was a very good ride. Here's the video on that.

So, I get home from my day's ride, put helmet and jacket up. Carla, my wife,, comes up and says let's go get some pizza, and we'll take the trike. So off to town we go. We're waiting for the pizza and I ask Carla if she knew where a mule, donkey or burrow might be out on our way home for another forum's Scavenger Hunt. She's sitting there messing with her and goes sure, she turns her phone around and there's a picture of me. Well, I did ask for that. So we eat and she says go down by the camel farm, they have a few donkeys, yes we have a camel farm in Bandera. So off we go. The donkeys are a ways off the road. I'm trying to get a good picture, but can't. So I start yelling yeehaa at the top of my lungs trying to call them. Carla is about to pee here pants laughing so hard. She want to know if that was my mating call, I looked at her and responded, well, it worked at least once. Now I'm laughing and getting "that look". Man I love that woman. So here's donkey stop number 1 pictures.

So we start heading home and a few miles down the road she starts poking me yelling LOOK, LOOK. Sure enough, there another donkey. She says let me take the picture, that way I can get two jacka$$ in one picture.

Even made a short Relive on that ride.

Yes, we're starting to enjoy this retirement gig.

Took advantage of what will probably be the last of our great riding weather for a while. Had never ridden down the Indiana side of the river, and I have to say it was really nice and I wasn't the only one our enjoying it.

Covington to Lawrenceburg ending up at Madison Indiana which seemed like a real nice town. Then took the bridge back across the river and went up 71 for a quick blast back home.

Wife went shopping today. So being the great husband I am, decided to go for a ride rather than staying home and possibly messing things up. Weather was perfect. But there were a lot of cops and other riders out there.

Here's the video

All was good until I just about got home. On a long straight stretch, went to shift into to 6th, no 6th gear, motor just revs. Pull over and stop, down shifting, all good. Take off again, 1-5th works great, try 6th again, nope. Stop again, check tranny fluid, yep it's good. So head home. Yes, I looked at gear selector, no 6th gear, just revs.

Called dealer when I got home. They're booked for pickup till Friday. I'm impatient and can't wait that long. They say ride it in if 1-5 is good. It's under warranty, so their issue if it messes anything else up. Wife leaves town Tuesday to visit son in North Carolina for 10 days so need a way home. Call Doc, a local friend, he's going to meet me at dealer on Tuesday and bring me home.

Yea, I'm bummed right now. Having a trouble free trike is why I bought a later model with warranty. But I do understand stuff happens

Took trike to dealer today for tranny repair. Wife is out of town so had a friend meet me and take me home.

Then got home and uncovered the neglected Vulcan. Was going for ride but spent time cleaning it. The old girl cleaned up pretty well.

Now to put some miles on it so at least I can beat @BlueRibbonRM in the Monthly Mileage Challenge.

It hasn't been a good month for me anyway, wet leaf season means much more caution for me. Once all the leaves are gone and before snow starts hopefully will be better for that period of time.
Agree the wet leaves can be an issue. Down here it's not so much the leaves as the fresh cut grass. Just keep all the white stuff up there.

Gotta give it to you and others, figured for sure there would be some comments about the Harley being in shop and Vulcan still running strong. I know you thought it.

I thought you would be getting the Vulcan out. Mine is down for a few days. Getting the pinion seal done on the final drive. Just dropped it off today, they said they hope to get it done by the weekend. Hoping so, the weather has been pretty awesome for end of October.

Wife loves the comfort of trike and we do a lot of short rides. She's not real keen on the Vulcan for any distance. I enjoy the Vulcan on the twisting roads I have here. Last month or so most rides have been two up. The only bummer part is trying to keep them semi clean running up and down my dirt road. Hopefully you get your bike back soon.

Making fun of a broken down harley is like making fun of the special needs kid 🤪 I forgot to mention, theres a chance I will be joining my wife in Houston the weekend around December 12th, trying to convince her to let me ship some gear to the hotel and rent a motorcycle for the weekend, but have a feeling that will get shut down since she wants me to go to actually spend time with me, not to give me opportunity to ride other bikes on new roads!

So you calling me a special need kid with a Harley? OK, I'll agree. Got the perfect weekend for you and your wife, come over to my place, it's just down the road.

We have a spare bedroom, so free.

Seriously, if you go to Houston let me know, I can give you and the misses some ideas of things to check out.

Yesterday @IC3/SS came over to my house (and garage) and we changed the brake and clutch fluids on our bikes. In addition, I replaced my front brake pads. 55,000 miles on mine and there was still life left on my original pads, but I did them anyway. Afterwards we went out for a little over an hour or so and explored some hill country roads that he hadn't been on. A little cool and overcast but not bad. Fun day!

A big thanks to @CarGuy for letting my invade his garage and sharing his knowledge on brakes and proper maintenance. My Voyager is new, just out of the crate on August 2nd, I picked it up on August 4th. It is a 2021 with only about 5100 miles on it. I never would have considered the brake fluid to be old. It was brownish rather then clear and the clutch looked worse then the brakes. On a ride together @CarGuy noticed it and said something about doing his brake and would I want to change out the fluid on mine. His willingness to share his knowledge and me having enough wisdom to listen we got the job done and the understanding that the fluid in the system of my bike had been in there from the manufacture point rather then the assembly point, about 2 years later.
I do not know what malfunction has now been avoided thanks to his catch, but I am glad to be a part of this forum where we are here to help each other ride safer and grow in wisdom and knowledge from each other.
The test ride was great, some of the best scenery out there and fun roads to ride. Most of my miles are the commute, 90% highway, so the weekend rides are the joy of life. The weather just needs to get better so the wife and I can hit the road together.
