Daily Ride Thread

Another forum I'm on has a thread where you post your rides, pictures, videos, what have you so I thought I'd start one here. There's no specific parameters like length or reason. If you take a spin around town to try out those new pipes, or if you go on a day trip for a few hundred miles, post here and share your ride with others. I'll start it off.

Met up with Tylernol, another forum member from here in town and we went on a 9 hour ride on a mission to get something my wife wanted. She has a thing for cheesy little knick-knacks and saw this advertised at a chain of discount stores:

242799

Like I said, cheesy. The problem is that none of the stores in town had one and the nearest one that did was almost 2 hours away. Well, she does let me ride when I want, plus it was a nice day and I was looking for an excuse to go riding so I met up with Tylernol and off we went in search of the elusive tiki.

Of course, we took the scenic route and 3 hours later we found it in Fredericton NB. We stopped for lunch, then carried on back home - also taking a much more scenic route. After a stop to admire Mr Potato,

242800

we toured through Fundy National Park along some nice roads with several scenic vistas.

242801

A half hour from home one of the cheap driving lights I got last summer fell off so I just cut the wires.

242802

Got the part ordered to repair the original turn signal bar so hopefully I'll have that in a day or two.

Overall it was a great day. Made a new friend and got some great riding in. Hope to see more people add their own adventures to this thread!

I see some of the group goes without helmets.

When I go a south into South Carolina, sometimes I am tempted to go without the helmet but am so used to wearing one I don’t. Will admit to wearing shorts on the trike when it’s above ninety degrees.

Nice video. Gotta admit, I started and restarted video several time thinking something was wrong, the realized it was a 360. Definitely interesting view.

I got the camera off of Facebook (used) because I didn’t want to spend $500 on a new one because
A) What if I couldn’t figure out how to use it?
B) GoPro has a “no questions asked” return and replace policy for their cameras

The video editing software I used was Adobe Premier Pro, and there is definitely a learning curve on editing 360 videos. I still don’t know how to set the focus point at certain segments of that clip.

The music is a song called “Glass” by Data Rebel. I bought the licensing rights on iTunes for 99 cents. I made the video unlisted because this is just “practice and learning” new tech for me.

I took a nice 'little' ride today.

Tried to ride up to the Sandia Crest, overlooking Albuquerque, today. It's a beautiful mountain ride, about 20 minutes outside downtown Albuquerque. To get there, you take I40 East to the Tijeras exit, and follow 14 (which becomes the Turquoise Trail, just past Cedar Crest.) At Cedar Crest, watch for the signs for NM536, or the Sandia Scenic Byway.

I got a little over half way there on the Sandia Scenic Byway (New Mexico 536,) just past the Sandia Ski Area, the road was chains only, and there were road crews working on the road beyond that point... So, I turned around and descended the mountains.

After I got down from the Sandia Scenic Byway, I took a ride up the Turquoise Trail from Cedar Crest, meandering around the Sandias, up through Madrid (home of Wild Hogs,) through scrub desert, into the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, and on to Santa Fe.

I've got to pull video, figure out what was what, and render. I'll edit to attach links. It's spring in the mountains, lots of wind again.

I even stopped to take a decent picture of my bike while I was out on my ride, this time!

Thank you! It's my daily driver again. I'm fortunate to live in such a beautiful place, with such diverse landscape, so close. It was great therapy to work on my bike... And better therapy being back on it!

I got out Saturday for a little 'lonely rode' riding. West on Interstate 40 from Albuquerque on "9 Mile Hill." Albuquerque is built in the Rio Grande Valley. You have to climb out of the valley (at 'only' 5800 about sea level) traveling east or west. Traveling West you have to climb "9 Mile Hill." Took exit 126/NM6 East. Followed that to Los Lunas (South of Albuquerque,) and took 314/45/Coors Blvd back up to Albuquerque along the Bosque. I'm getting a stack of videos that I need to edit and upload. I have the audio working on my cam again, so now the videos sound like you're riding a motorcycle: engine and wind!

This weekend I went out and collected several Texas Grand Tour stops and attended the Celina RTE in Celina,TX. I covered over 1,100 miles, saw some nice scenery in east Texas, and battled 20mph+ headwinds on Sunday. Here are some highlights.

My trophy for the longest distance ridden to attend the Celina RTE. I was not intending to win this at only 352 miles.

Hidalgo did good. Fuel economy ranged from 45mpg to 30mpg.

Canadian Dan and Dave who road to Texas to visit, Carla and I just returned from our Twisted Sisters ride. Started out in the 50s and overcast only to bless us with a sunny 70 degree and sunny afternoon. Was definitely a great ride with great company. We came back 470 so not to duplicate any roads. Tomorrow we plan the Kerrville, Stonehenge, Motorcycle Museum ride.

Had another great riding day with @digger and Dave. Started off in the 50s and semi dry. We did hit some fine mist you will see on the camera lens. Didn't last long. They both really liked this route and said it's better than the Twisted Sisters to them.

We'll be out again tomorrow.

Had a nice third day ride with my Canadian friends. We kept it short and dodged the rain. They head home tomorrow.

On Sunday I took a ride, to see if it was clear up to the Sandia Crest yet (the mountains overlooking Albuquerque.) It wasn't.

I did take a chance to hop off the bike to stretch my legs, and grab a couple shots of the Vulcan overlooking the mountain face.
