I recently removed the fuel tank and coolant reservoir to remove and check my spark plugs. I managed to do everything right... hopefully. My only concern is that there's a long hose/tube going from the top of the coolant reservoir to... I don't know. That's the problem. It's not the hose/tube going to the cap. It's the really long one. Is it supposed to be connected to anything? If so, where? Or is it just a vent hose? Thanks in advance.

It's an overflow vent. I believe it works its way back along the frame inside of the tank, then drops down and out alongside the other vents near the swingarm. Someone with access to a 500C can confirm.

There are two long hoses that disappear down along the frame to exit in front of the rear tire. One goes to the top of the coolant reservoir. The other is the fuel tank vent hose and connects near the front-right of the fuel tank bottom.

Hope this helps.
