I currently have an Memphis Slim windshield with the quick release brackets on my VN900 Classic. The shield seems to stick out pretty far in relation to the headlight jug. I was wondering if there is a clearance issue if I wanted to install a Cobra light bar. Is anyone out there running this setup currently?

There is absolutely an issue. I was wanting a windshield and light bar combo as well and after digging, found I had to make a choice. Called memphis shades and they said it wouldn't be compatible. I chose the shield. Now the Kawi light bar will fit w/ the Kawi shield but they are both a lot more expensive unless you happen to find an unbelievable deal on ebay. I have seen some "much" smaller (tiny actually) lightbars posted in some pics on this site. They seem to be less common and may be more expensive I don't know. You also may not like the look of them. If it's any consolation the Memphis shield w/ trigger locks are great and I think I made the right choice.

Update to this... one if anyone still cares.

I wrote Cobra and they agree with Gibnmo, you can't make the two work together. I didn't research any other windshield / lightbar combos, but just looking at where my shield fits I'm betting there would be issues. I do have a Cobra engine guard with foot pegs on my bike so I am now thinking of mounting some lights to the top of the crash bar. Another thought was to buy some really large c-clamps to go around the shock risers and mount something there. I also agree with Gibnmo on the choice of windshield or lightbar. You have to have a windshield or the wind tries to pull your head off with the helmet.

Hey JeepPirate, Jardin offers a lightbar that looks like it "may" work w/ a shield. It spreads the lights out quite a bit and the turn signals are waaay out there. Not sure I like the look of it but you may. http://www.meancycles.com/Home.asp?PartID=213851&AccCategoryID=2330&AccCategoryTypeID=0&BikeModelID=5764&ManufacturerID=0&BikeType=Cruiser&CompanyID=0 There are also some smaller lights that may fit w/ some modification to your shield. Also some that will work on your forks or highway bars (KURYAKYN ) like you were talking about http://www.meancycles.com/Home.asp?CompanyID=0&BikeType=Cruiser&BikeModelID=5764&AccCategoryID=2330 Hope this helps ;)

Not sure if this helps but on my 800 Vulcan I have the (OEM) Kawasaki light bar with a Slipstream Classic 30 windshield. As you can see from the pic I had cut (with a Dremel cut off wheel then finished with a sanding disc) the shield to accommodate the spots. However, the Memphis shades' chrome may be longer than the slipstream.
I had also did the same to the Falcon II by slipstream. The Falcon is more of a sportier look and is wider.

I bought a windshield setup like Pirate's....also bought a Kawasaki light bar, which has a on/off push button switch on it...i just removed the switch (but put the rubber covering back in the hole) and bought bolts about half an inch longer than the ones that came with the light bar....works perfectly!!!

i have seen one 900 with the MS shield and a lightbar.
it was the "Big Bike Parts" contour lightbar. it uses a flatter bucket. the guy had to tip his shield up to bring the lower part in to make room for the buckets, but it was the only lightbar that would work with the MS shield.
its actually one of the better looking lightbars IMO, the directionals are under the buckets, not sticking out the ends.

I tried to find the thread where he explained the fit. he had some really nice pics showing how the fitup was.
I did find this thread though, which has pictures with the MS shield and the Big Bike Parts lightbar.

Great info Slpr, I was worried about being able to remove the shield w/ the triggerlocks but looking at his video it looks like there is a ton of room if it's tilted as straight up as you can. Heh, I forgot that the shield adjusted that way. I set it up the way I wanted and forgot all about it. That's a fat bar, I like it. Thanks!
