Can the steel plates in your clutch be used again without any problems? My 1600's clutch has some slippage in it and I am going to change out the clutch plates this winter and want to reuse the steel plates over with the new friction plates as long as they are not warped any. I figure sort of like brake rotors just make sure they are scuffed up good again and not real glazed bad. :coffee:

Replaced my clutch in my Mean Streak. All the info I got (forums) was that the steel plates were more than likely good (90% chance they were ok). CAN they be bad, ... sure, but most guys that have done it said not likely.

I replaced them anyway, as they were not hugely expensive. I didn't want to do the same work twice.

If you do replace them, .... make sure you get the same thickness'.
The ones in there now, could be different thickness'.
Put them back in the same order they came out according to thickness..
