Clearview Shields - Discounted
I broke down and ordered a Clearview shield today. This may have been posted already, but they have a discount that was applied of $29 and was titled their "29th Birthday Sale 2015". I thought the gent I spoke with said this was for the month of February.

I ordered a "custom" as well because I wanted the vent and I did not want the dark black area at the bottom of the screen. Clearview said I would get emails as each step of my windshield's production starts and darn if I didn't get my first email today saying that prefabrication has stated. The direction I'm taking may not work for others. I may be wrong, but I wanted this shield for comfort and to use with a Day-Long seat (that has me sitting high in the saddle). With that in mind, I ordered the XL. That should be 1/2 inch lower than stock (I'll compare when it arrives). I also have a 13" slipstreamer shield for the days I want a shorty (only $50 or so on Amazon).
I ordered mine on Friday, got a 21" with recurve and 2" extra wide. I will post pics when it arrives.
The shield arrived and, while I haven't road tested yet, I did the measurements...............I wanted this shield for comfort and to use with a Day-Long seat (that has me sitting high in the saddle). With that in mind, I ordered the XL. That should be 1/2 inch lower than stock (I'll compare when it arrives)............
The 17.5" Clearview shield was actually 1.25" shorter (when mounted) than the 18" factory shield. I got a measurement of 20.5" from top of the 18" factory shield to my key switch (note that I had to measure towards the front of the switch due to the GPS mount location). The Clearview shield measured 19.25" from the same location on the key switch to the top of it's shield.
I'm really happy with the quality and height. Since I don't have the Russell seat yet, I won't know how the wind deflection is going to work out until the middle of the March.
Also, I asked Clearview NOT to put the black section at the bottom of the shield and I had the vent installed. The shield looks great and the vent location if perfect. With the vent open, the lid sits just a touch above the dash. Photos and ride results in a week or so...
