I need to change my Nomad's speedometer (2000' Vn 1500 Classic Tourer Fi) and i've found a used one but it's a Drifter's vn1500 speedometer. It seems to be exactly the same but i'm not sure because Reference OE/OEM Number of this one is 25005-1657 and in "partzilla.com" this is the reference of 1999 vulcan 1500 drifter speedometer.......
Can anybody help me?
Thanks so much ;)

you need to be careful here. year 2000 /2001 was when the speedo changed from front wheel cable drive, to electronic off the gear box.
If your bike has a speedo cable on the right side of the front wheel, then any vulcan speedo cable drive unit will work as far as the speed is concerned. BUT, earlier versions did not have Fi lights and other warning lights in them, so its your choice if you want to lose those functions.

Drifters are a little different from the other vulcan bikes in some subtle but important ways, and the speedo is one of them. The 1999 & 2000 Drifter 1500 speedo's are cable driven. The 2001 and up Drifter 1500 speedo's are not. If you have a cable drive speedo a 1999 or 2000 drifter 1500 speedo will work, but not a 2001 and up model.

The one you showed looks like the earlier 1999 & 2000 model speedo. It's different from my 2001 Drifter 1500 speedo. (Notice the lack of a recess around my fuel gauge)

Ok.........excellent. I think it will be ok for my bike.....
I have only a perplexity about the different reference numbers between two or more speedo wich seems to be the same........ On ebay i've found much speedos (all cable driven) that seems to be absolutely identical but have different reference number.

I don't know why that is. Maybe one was OE and the other a factory replacement? Could be year of manufacture? Maybe just a simple typo? Don't know, but it is curious.
