Hey all.
I'm needing to add some spacers between the frame and the center mounting point for my highway bars in order to get a radiator cover in there.

I've heard some horror stories about people mounting horns etc under the steering head and having them smash the front fender when the suspension compresses, so I'm a little anxious about clearance.

Front suspension has supposedly 5.9inches of travel but I'm assuming that's unloaded. Anyone have any idea of how much of that the bike eats up at rest?

I'm guessing the bike's own weight eats up around 1" (or less) of that travel, but just stick a jack "safely" under the bike (maybe a little towards the front) and give it a gentle lift until the front wheel is almost clear of the ground...go ahead and stick some masking tape on the inner fork tube prior to lifting and measure the difference. Total fork travel "spec" is 5.9 inches, as you have already mentioned.
