Hey Ya'll

I have a question for those with 1700s who do their own tires. I've never changed tires before, but I took the plunge this time. The front rim wasn't too bad to clean up where the bead sits on and against the inner rim, but the rear tire was awful. It looks like someone put what I think was bead sealer in there. When I broke the bead, it was stubborn and popped like it would setting the bead on a new tire. The front tire broke loose a lot easier and quieter.

I got most of it cleaned off with a lot of elbow grease and eventually some metal polish. At least it is smooth to the touch now.

My question is: Does Kawasaki put bead sealer on the rear tire at the factory?

I have no idea what bead sealer would look like, if it had been used. Maybe it was just old tire residue, but the stuff on the rim wall had a much different feel and was much harder to remove than the line of black around the cylinder part.

Is it Mud from the fields?? You haven't been plowing with Dahlia have you?

No, it's not that rich Arkansas dirt I plowed up with the Sabre. No plans to make a farm implement outa Dahlia.
