I just got new plugs for my 1700 Nomad. (50k miles... time to change them) but should I change the boots too? And what of the plug wires/coils? Those are over $80 apiece. (WHY did they design the wires and coils as one piece?)

Just change the plugs. I ran a set of plugs for 50,000+ mls on my Vaq, took them out and they were NOT in need of replacement. Use a good anti-seize lube on the threads of the plugs.

The Japs have been using coils with integral wires for decades, and the plug caps don't need replacement unless they fail, as they have internal resistors to squelch RFI.
