Well, I hadn't cleaned and lubed my chain for a while, and it rusted. It's relatively new -- I put it in only a few months ago. But I've definitely done more than 500 miles since I last lubed it. I know, I'm doing a terrible job keeping track of things! :l
So, what do you think? Does it need to be replaced again? I SCRUBBED it with kerosene, but to no avail.

If there aren't any stiff/binding links, a little surface rust isn't a deal breaker. Just stop it from getting worse.

That's just surface rust. If links are loose, you're ok. I've used spray chain lube / grease & rag for decades & chains stay like new. Always wipe the bike down after rain. Chain too.
