Hi there I’m having trouble with my 2001 Vulcan 800 classic, it’s got 35,000km just had the valves and timing checked and there good. But when I fire up the bike and it’s idling It will back fire out of the Carb every few seconds. Was told to set the air/fuel screw all the way in and back out 1.5 turns but now the bike won’t run. Will run if the choke is on but dies as soon as it’s off. Can someone help me and tell me how to reset the carb or how many turns I need to do ? Thank you

I thought it was 2.5, but don't quote me on that. Sounds like it's too lean, if it'll run on choke but not off choke.

I'd set it at 1.5 and then back it out until it'll run off choke. May need to hook a battery tender up to it, depending on how long it takes (how many start cycles you need). Also, don't run the starter too much without giving it a 10 minute break to cool off - it's not meant to be used many times in succession.

Good luck!
