I am looking to maybe do this mod, and I was wondering if I could get an update on wear or issues. I will also occasionally ride 2 up, Me-190 lbs.... Her-120 lbs. I am planning on lowering, but not sure whether to go 1" or 2".... I do alot of highway riding on the way to work, however on weekend rides, I'm a twisties fool. How does the tire do when it's wet out? How many miles have you run your 230? Just curious to find out any info possible before I myself join the club. Thanks!

Mine is lowered two inches, with the shock at factory setting. I have never bottomed out, but have drug the pipes in right handers. Handles great, the Avon tire gets good traction dry, and excellent wear. But I haven't ridden in the rain so I can't comment on wet traction. I have around 5k on this tire, and it still looks brand new. Btw I got 12k out of the Dunlop 180, so you can use that as a baseline. I don't do burnouts. As for two up, a couple notches on the preload you'll be good.

Mine is droped at full drop with the Britt lowering kit (2 inches I think). I have bottomed out on some hard bumps but I also wiegh 260 and the shock set at 6. I have rode two up with no problems tho. As far as wear, both my Avons still look new and have around 6 to 7k on them. Haven't had any traction problems in wet or dry conditions. But how you ride also plays into that. And I do alot of highway riding going to and from work. I also have two friends that we have done this mod to and they also love it. Would I do it again, YES.

Thanks guys! Just didnt want to do the 230 mod and regret it for some reason. And sure wouldn't want to add any kind of safety concern. Thats an awfully big rubber for such a small rim. Doesn't seem like anyone is having issue though.

I did it as soon as I read up on it and saw that fat tire underneath. Looks way better and feels great. There really isn't any uneven wear on the tire. I ride at the recommended pressure (I think 32 psi). I weigh 215lbs an i haven't bottomed out since I set my shock at 6 or 7. I ride 2-up (she weighs 125) and there aren't any issues. I dropped mine 2" with the LA Choppers kit. You won't regret it. You've probably seen all of the pics on gillsfire's thread but I'd be glad to post some more pics if you want.

Anybody? No one has a mileage report on what they got out of this tire?

I only have 3500 km on the tire so far. No visible wear. Still liking the tire and the ride. No issues. Will do it again when I have to replace the tire, whenever that will be. Some have said they have attained 15,000mi to 18,000mi out of the tire, but with no silly actions like multiple burn outs etc.

Great, thank you. I didnt wanna spend the money if the tire was only going to get 7k-10k. But if I can get north of 15k I will be happy
