Bikers and Dating

2259 Views 13 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  MrsBarlow
Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day – we decided to talk about motorcycles and dating on the radio show.

If you do a Google search for Biker Dating, you literally will get pages of dating sites specifically created for bikers. Match.com says that “motorcycle” is the fourth most searched term in their profiles and they’ve now paired up with Harley Davidson to create private events just for their members.

So…Would you mind answering some questions for us?

Have you used or would you use a dating site to find a partner?

Have you or you would specifically search out another motorcycle enthusiast?

Is it important that who you date is a motorcycle enthusiast? Or is just the understanding of your desire to ride enough? Or is not an important factor in who you would choose?

Would you attend events that are aimed at meeting other single bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts?

Thank you in advance!

  • Have you used or would you use a dating site to find a partner?

The internet has changed just everything every aspect of our lives. Including dating. Up until about 15 years ago, you would either meet somebody in a bar, work, church, etc.. or you were introduced via a friend.

So meeting somebody truly was a "random" chance.

Now? The internet is the ultimate dating tool. If you are really trying to "find" somebody, and your not using the internet, you are really short-changing yourself.

Did "I" use it? Hell yea.. and let me tell ya.. I had some fun.

(Ironically...my now wife was a friend of a friend.. who I had actually meet several years before I "bumped" into her online...)

  • Have you or you would specifically search out another motorcycle enthusiast?

Being a motorcycle enthusiast would be a plus, and give us something to talk about. But I would never have limited my search with it.

Bonus if she is one, but no negative if not...

  • Is it important that who you date is a motorcycle enthusiast? Or is just the understanding of your desire to ride enough? Or is not an important factor in who you would choose?

I have dated women who have their own motorcycles.
I have dated women who openly told me riding two-up on a motorcycle is aphrodisiac to them. (O man.. just remembering that one...)
I have dated women, who did not mind if I had a bike, but would not ride.
I have dated women, including my now wife, who had never been on a bike before, but learned to love it.

I found that last category to be the most common.

That sounds like a bike rally..

For the record, my wife had never been on a bike before mine..

Now? She loves riding.. enough she posed for me, AND actually wanted the bike to be in the wedding pictures.

Been married for about 6 months now. Met my wife online on a site called OK Cupid. I'm not sure motorcycles were the attracting factor from either side, but I did just buy a Vulcan 900 2 weeks ago so she can start riding with me.

There goes Shane showing off again.
Edie and I met on a site called "MyYearBook". Has since changed name to MeetMe. Not a real dating site, but when I finally deleted my account there it has been slowly moving that way. Since I ride so much, having her enjoy riding too was important because she would either be neglected in favor of my riding or I would be deprived of the joy I get from riding. Now we both enjoy riding so we do more of it.
Thank you everyone! And great pics!

Yep .... gone are the days when you went to the bar ... had a few beers and cut one outa the herd.
I must be doing something horribly wrong. I'm using Match.com and I cannot get any woman to strike up a convo with me. I always initiate, but never ever hear back. I even have pics of my bike in my profile.

I would love to meet someone who rides; but Wichita, KS isn't big on rally meets and I don't go to bars.
The potential matches for me are pretty slim. A woman with good morals of my age group that doesn't drink or do drugs and has her own skoot.

That's all I ask for.

try "plenty of fish" .... you will meet some that are into bikes .... and you will defiantly get laid. Just remember ... to ask them for a current picture, not one from either 20 years or pounds ago...... and its free to join.

My buddy had the same issue until he cleared out all the stuff about himself and just started writing about random thoughts and recent trips he had taken. He started getting a lot more activity and then the lucky guy picked up a very cute gal that, get this, has her own bike and loves to ride. He didn't write anything about motorcycles in his profile.
Honestly match is horribe. Spent many years on there and almost 10 years later i recognize the SAME profiles. Your messaging ghosts. Women who were there at one point but must be long gone by now. E harmony is a huge waste of time and money. If you like the girls on there save your money and attend a few church functions if thats your thing. OKCupid at least in my city was 3000 times more productive than anything i had ever tried. Averaged about 1 descent date a month (im not exactly a stud) and only took about 4 or 5 months to find my wife. Only use POF if you want bottom of the barrel with a side of drama.
Actually, two of our friends who are our local "Motorcycling Real Estate Brokers" met on Match and are very happily married. So, it can work.
