I'm with meckeard on this. Electric start, FI and CC. I live on cruise. I don't know how I'm going to survive going back to my VN900. Best I can do there is a throttle lock.

Most of my bikes have cruise control. but I never use it. Just don't feel comfortable with an automatic throttle.

1. Real rear suspension (as opposed to hardtail/tire).
Electric start, FI., seats better than a rock with two feathers. Never liked cruise, my ocd takes care of the turn signal cancel push 8 times a mile.

almost put water cooled on mine. Saw 1000's of Harleys pulling over because of over heating during Sturgis 2001. I was on an oil cooled Suzuki Intruder LC had no problems. It was as they were parting the red sea so I could get to the Full ThrottleWater Cooled

This will sound dumb but how about a gas gauge? I had a brand new Intruder 1400 back in '98 and the only way to know when you were low on gas is when the engine sputtered and you had to switch to the reserve tank. Which meant "get gas right damn now!"
