Thanks for the picture and the review. I was wondering weather to buy one for some time.
Yea, just got it last month and only had one ride so far. Been really adding the mods waiting for the weather to clear.Nice write up. I gotta say it though, it's been a long time since my ODO looked like that! I actually a double-take moment.
Didnt really have to strip anything, just tap into the existing connections with piggybacks. Technically you wouldnt even need to do that if you took some time and found some specialty connectors. Taps dont really bother me though since your not cutting the wire in half or anything. Why can't things be simple plug and play. I'd hate to start stripping wires with only 75 on the odo.
I paid $160 on Amazon with free shipping. There are cheaper tachs but i would buy this again. Well made and comes with everything you need.how much was the tach and where did you get it if you dont mind me asking. i would like one on mine but $250 bad enough to buy the cobra tach...
There is a very small amount of flutter at idle. No flutter at any rpm other than idle that I can tell. I actually like that it flutters a little at idle, kind of makes it look alive. I would say the flutter is no more than a couple hundred RPM max. I will take a video next time I have the bike started. I currently have the exhaust removed. Just installed the scootworks front pulley last night, and putting my road runner exhaust on tonight if the heater can keep me warm enough out in the garage.Any flutter? I've installed 4 of these suckers on 4 different bikes and they all fluttered when using the single fire adaptor.
Fawlty how do you like the Trump bird? I have been seriously looking but no local dealership for service etc.Any flutter? I've installed 4 of these suckers on 4 different bikes and they all fluttered when using the single fire adaptor.
Well it was for me, but only because I also installed my FI2000r at the same time. 2 tall boys is all you need for this alone. One to get you through the install, the other to pop and drink while you wait on fast idle to come down to slow idle so you can see the tach work around the 1k mark.Would you say that this was a three beer install?
The Barons tachometer will always give you flutter at idle. The cobra tachometer, although more expensive, is as steady as a rock at idle and all through the RPM range.
Its around 7500 but i think it starts kicking in around 7200what's the redline for the 900?

First let me say I am very blessed to have a good job in this economy. I don't have any kids just yet so this is probably my last hooray before the debt of starting a family sets in.Darkarcher
I wish I had your budget! The Mrs. Was upset at $350 to get my tires replaced.
Your add on budget must be getting close to what you paid for the bike and you have less than 100 miles on it. I am envious!!
Keep $500 for the new seat! Once you get a few thousand miles of riding in you will know why so many of us have been saying a new seat is a MUST upgrade.First let me say I am very blessed to have a good job in this economy. I have been doing things on the cheap but yes I have spent more than $350.
So far I have:
Exhaust - $375
Cobra Air Cleaner - $150
Cobra FI2000r - $160
Engine Guards - $160
Barons Tach - $160
Sissy bar/ luggage rack - $300 - Ouch! Necessary to ride the wife though.
Sissy bar bag - $90
American flag sissy bar accent - $35
Custom Dynamics LED turn signal Kits - $150
Scootworks Pulley - $185
Kawasaki Passenger Floorboards $200
So far that's $1965 plus a few other knick knack's which probably puts me right at $2000. That is probably a little more than I wanted to spend, but I got good deals on most stuff I think. I got the bike for $5499 so I still haven't got up to MSRP yet so I'm happy overall. Installing all the mods myself and very glad to say I am almost finished. I like doing them, but it tests my patience at the same time. Its easier to be wrenching in the garage instead of out riding with 6" of snow on the ground.
I wasn't going to add it up because I knew I would feel guilty..... Come on Tax return!
So far I like the stock seat, but that's "so 75 miles far". Def need a windshield or a fairing, just cant decide which one. Thinking about pulling the trigger on drop top Memphis fats but that's a lot of coin.Keep $500 for the new seat! Should be good riding weather here in N Georgia by second weekend in March. I feel for you with the snow and low temps, come on spring time!!!
