Hey guys. I have a 96 vn800a I picked up really cheap. It runs really good except a bit of really light backfire when accelerating, and then when I shut the bike off, there a muffled pop I can hear and feel from the intake. Could this be spark plugs not burning off the fuel fast enough? Or maybe a timing issue? Thank you!

Possible loose exhaust manifold, loose carb boot, bad gas in the tank (if you haven't run it much yet). Carbs might need cleaning. Look at the color of your spark plugs. Cheap and easy diagnostic to get you started diagnosing the problem.

Thanks, I'll check the exhaust and plugs. I have cleaned the carb, ensured its seated well, and has brand new gas in it with a new inline filter. Wanted someone elses opinion who knows more than myself before I started spending money on unnecessary parts
